Dr. Matthew Crowson is a board-certified Otolaryngologist and data scientist at Harvard Medical School who specializes in the development of predictive models using a wide range of diverse data types. Dr. Crowson has developed machine learning models for the detection of middle ear effusions in children, predicting clinical depression scores from hearing loss data, automatic classification of hearing loss from audiogram images, and post-operative adult cochlear implant performance prediction from pre-operative data.,He completed medical school at Dartmouth Medical School, otolaryngology residency at Duke University, and fellowship in Otology-Skull base Surgery at the University of Toronto. Dr. Crowson also has a Master of Public Administration degree from Royal Military College of Canada, as well as a Master of Applied Science in Engineering from the University of Toronto. Currently, he is on the clinical faculty at Massachusetts Eye & Ear, involved in the NIH Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, and has active projects in distributed research/federated learning, model scaling and implementation, and clinical data interoperability.
